  • Since 1998, Sam has been active in the real estate development and planning industry. He has written for several national publications, performed appraisals and market studies for a variety of real estate types, guest lectured and presented on a range of topics, and been active in the local chapter of the Urban Land Institute.

  • Sam has written various articles, book chapters and case studies for ULI publications, including Urban Land and Urban Land Europe, on a variety of real estate and urban planning-related topics in numerous locations, including: Amsterdam, Boston, Los Angeles, Dublin, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Denver, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Missoula, and London. Case studies and book chapters have appeared in “The New Shape of Suburbia,” “Creating Walkable Places,” and the “Residential Development Handbook - Third Edition.”
  • Market Research Analyst – Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban, Inc. (DSU), August 2003 to April 2006  

  • Sam performed market research and report writing for DSU Research, the market research arm of DSU. Accomplishments include a variety of market studies with a focus on urban housing. The 2004-2005 Market Viewpoint annual condo market report was Sam’s brainchild. Sam’s work at DSU provided him with unique insight into the Twin Cities real estate development community.

  • Sam started the Young Leaders Group (age 35 and under) in 2004, and formed the Executive Board to recruit members, organize programs and educational events, and host monthly happy hours. Since the first Young Leaders Group (YLG) event, membership has risen from 12 to over 100.
